A Letter to Ellen is a firsthand account of Grandfather Thomas Jefferson reminiscing about his writing the Declaration of Independence. Fifty years earlier Jefferson had a portable writing box made which he carried with him for many miles and ensuing years. An unfortunate accident was the catalyst which resulted in his giving this precious relic to his beloved granddaughter.
